Lisa Águeda

My family emigrated to the United States from the Azores, Portugal, when I was ten years old. My widowed mother, my four siblings and I settled in the Central Valley of California, and from early on, I knew I wanted to be an attorney.

I put myself through college, graduate school, and law school while working various jobs alongside my studies, with my mother’s unwavering support.

The firm’s name, Moses Rose Law, is a tribute to both of my parents: Moisés, my father, and Rosa, my mother.

It took time to find my corner of the law. Working in support roles at law firms introduced me to intellectual property, an area devoted to brands, creativity, and the ideas that drive them. Given my longstanding love of fashion, beauty, entertainment, books and technology, it felt less like a career choice and more like an inevitability.

Now, I have been practicing IP law exclusively for over ten years and I genuinely love what I do.

Before founding Moses Rose Law, I was an associate at Am Law 100 firms, establishing and protecting the IP rights of some of the world’s most recognized brands including Apple, Lyft, Amazon Studios, Meta, Red Bull, Fanatics, WD-40, Trader Joe’s, Hello Kitty and Salesforce.

While that experience with major brands has been invaluable, what I find most rewarding is working directly with clients, particularly small, immigrant, minority and female-owned businesses, to secure the IP rights that protect what they have built.
